AWS requires Premier Tier Services Partners to maintain extensive AWS-certified talent, multiple AWS program validations, and a proven record of customer deployments. For enterprises, this means working with a partner that has established delivery processes, access to AWS implementation specialists, experience across migration and modernization projects, and validated expertise in areas such as security, data, AI/ML, DevOps, and managed services. Premier partners can also help customers leverage AWS programs such as Migration Acceleration Program (MAP), Well-Architected Reviews, and funding opportunities where eligible.
Beyond partner tier, enterprises should evaluate the partner’s AWS Competencies, AWS Service Delivery designations, AWS Managed Service Provider (MSP) status, AWS Well-Architected Partner designation, certified technical professionals, and customer references. Ask for experience with workloads similar to yours, delivery accelerators, migration methodologies, governance frameworks, and post-migration operational support. These indicators provide a practical measure of whether the partner can deliver your specific business and technical requirements.
The difference is measurable. AWS Premier Tier partners must maintain significantly more AWS-certified professionals, more accredited technical and business staff, more customer deployments, and multiple AWS program validations. AWS also requires Premier partners to hold at least three AWS validations, including an AWS MSP designation or DevOps or CloudOps Competency, and demonstrate sustained performance over time. These requirements reflect greater delivery maturity for large-scale enterprise programs.
Enterprise cloud programs involve architecture, migration, security, operations, and governance risks. AWS Premier Tier status provides evidence that a partner has met AWS’s highest requirements for technical capability, customer success, certified talent, and validated delivery programs. Combined with AWS Well-Architected Framework reviews, AWS Service Delivery validations, and proven AWS migration partner methodologies, enterprises gain greater confidence in project execution, operational readiness, and long-term cloud operations.
An AWS center of excellence indicates that cloud delivery is supported by standardized architecture practices, governance, automation, reusable deployment assets, skilled AWS professionals, and operational processes. In practice, this helps enterprises achieve more consistent project delivery, standardized security controls, infrastructure automation, Well-Architected implementations, and repeatable operating models across multiple AWS environments.
