The applications involving user-centric interactions require to have the assurance of serving what the users want. Our approach to Usability Assurance involves engaging end-users of different demographics. We extract their feedback real-time using eye-ball tracking, mouse tracking and think aloud testing. This usability practice gives direct input on how real users use the system.
The goal of Hexaware’s Usability Assurance is very simple. We help end users complete their tasks quickly and with ease by creating user-friendly applications. We achieve this through a scientific approach in a lab-driven testing environment supported by Cloud performance testing platform.

Usability is the ‘ease of use’ of a product and its ability to complete the tasks effortlessly. Usability is a necessary condition for your products’ survival. Usability testing measures the quality of an end user’s experience with a product and provides qualitative feedback for product improvement and to evolve the product to be more user friendly.
Usability testing is an iterative process and should be integrated as part of testing lifecycle. We recommend it should be initiated during the wireframe design process/prototyping phase and should continue till product maturity iteratively. The feedback on the previous phase should be implemented to optimize and evaluate the next phase. Usability testing should be performed regularly, even after a product is launched, as the product needs to improve to get an edge over the competition consistently.
If the product is first of its kind in that business, potential users’ feedback is more valuable. Experts review is ideal when a product operates in familiar domain and the target users and their demographics are known. We recommend an integrated crowd-sourced approach to usability to ensure a delighted customer experience.
Experts find more critical issues related to user interface and those that affect business, but end users notify specific issues that prevent them from getting what they want. For most effective and thorough usability results, seeking a combination of both expert and end-user feedback is recommended.
Research studies in Usability reveals that a sample of 5-8 users is enough for evaluation. Engaging a large number of users does not necessarily unearth newer (unique) usability issues. But if user voting is required on a specific feature or functionality then a large sample of users is usually recommended.
Test venue is important to bring users and experts together in one place, ideally in a lab that is specially designed to conduct the usability test. With a virtual usability test lab connected through appropriate infrastructure, tests can be conducted anywhere depending upon the geographic and demographic needs of the product and its context of use.
Remote Usability testing tools allow the testing of an application from any connected location and enable the observer in a central location to collate and analyze the feedback from all users.
We present the recommendations to the project team and prioritize the issues based on:
We understand from the client, the target user group and demographics like age, gender, profession, location, etc. Based on this understanding, the requirements are populated, through various user pooling communities, professional forums or resourcing agencies, to seek suitable users for participation. Among the interested applicants, we shortlist the best-suited profiles for test. Selected users will be educated and informed about the test tasks and schedule.
