BI & Analytics Case Study Hexaware accelerates data warehouse migration from Oracle Exadata to Azure SQL Data Warehouse for a leading vehicle manufacturer Our client, who is one of the leading manufacturers of trucks, buses, and industrial engines for over 100 markets around the world, was facing issues with their existing on-premise Oracle Exadata Data Warehouse. It was incapable to handle the large enterprise data volumes generated from millions of IoT devices installed in their assembly lines and churn insights quickly. Moreover, it was becoming very expensive to maintain and manage this legacy DW appliance. Their Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) was very high. As Hexaware was chosen as a partner for the task of Oracle Exadata migration, we proposed using Microsoft Azure data service components to achieve agility and cost effectiveness. The newly architected solution involved extracting data from various sources like millions of IoT sensors, PLC controller and csv files into an Azure Blob Storage landing zone. Azure SQL Data Warehouse was selected to replace Oracle Exadata as the new EDW, where data will be used for Dashboards, ad hoc querying, canned reports and building Machine Learning models. The entire migration was automated using AMAZETM for Data & AI platform. Key Benefits Near real time monitoring of manufacturing data and ability to analyse huge data volumes coming from millions of IoT sensors The Total Cost of Ownership of EDW landscape was reduced by 50% Rapid cloud migration in just 9 months
