Initiator: Ranjith Kumar A large amount of data had to be moved from MS SQL database to Oracle database. Traditional tools failed due to reasons like out-of-memory issues and partial transactions, resulting in system hanging/crash issues. We developed an intuitive program using JAVA/DOS commands, that helped in transferring data from one database to another. In some instances more than 20GB of data were transferred from MS SQL to Oracle Database. Data would be exported from source database in small chunks and uploaded to the target database. Status tables had been used to store details of each run. Adaptive buffering feature had been used to handle large amount of data in MS SQL. During the upload process, transactional commit had been used to handle partial commit issues. The program uses a Configuration xml file which is easy to modify and reuse. https://hexaware.com/
